About the role
Techstep is looking for a Head of Business Controlling to strengthen commercial partnering, drive data led decision making and scale our use of business insight and AI tools across the group. The role combines strategic business partnering with hands on ownership of forecasting, performance analysis, KPI design, and the development of analytics and AI enabled decision support.
You will combine this with hands-on leadership, leading the Business Controlling team, work closely with business unit leaders and product teams, and ensure that management reporting and planning processes deliver timely, accurate and actionable insight.
What will you do
• Lead and develop the Business Controlling function, fostering a supportive, high performing team that partners closely with the business to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
• Own business planning and forecasting processes for the group; ensure forecasts are robust, timely and aligned with strategic priorities
• Deliver meaningful and relevant management reporting and data-driven decision support incl ad hoc commercial analyses of value drivers to provide insight and clarity on profitability, unit economics and cash conversion
• Embed AI and analytics: identify, pilot and scale AI tools and advanced analytics to automate routine tasks, improve forecast accuracy and surface actionable insights.
• Commercial partnering: act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, challenging assumptions, quantifying trade offs and supporting pricing, go to market and investment decisions.
Desired qualifications
• Higher education in finance, economics, accounting or similar; advanced degree or professional certification is an advantage.
• Proven experience in a senior business controlling role or similar, ideally in a fast growing, multi country technology or services company
• Proven experience in leading and developing teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with hands on experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and KPI design.
• Demonstrated experience with analytics and AI tools and track record of applying them to improve business outcomes.
• Solid understanding of ERP and reporting systems, i.e SAP or similar
• Excellent communication skills in Norwegian and English, both written and verbal.
